Topic/Skill: Listening comprehension/grammar lesson
Feedback provided to the tutee: I corrected Faisal's pronunciation as well as major grammar errors.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: I learned that Faisal and maybe this is true for all beginner learners, but they tend to ask a lot of questions. Mainly they really want to know "why" a grammar structure is a way it is or why for example knife is pronounced the way it is. I need to think more about when it is useful for the tutees to know this "why" and when it is best to let them live in the uncomfortable ambiguity that is language learning at times. I think for grammar it is best to give students the exact why but for other topics it might just be information that isn't that useful.
