Vito - CO #4
Date/Time: 2pm on May 15th
Topic/Skill: Listening/comprehension and discussion - Group 4
Teacher Presentation: Class began with a discussion about AI given the information they learned in their previous assignments. They chose a film to watch in their next class and then began to watch a TED talk.
Classroom Management: Professor James paused the video to discuss some of the topics within. She facilitated discussion and asked various students for their individual thoughts and opinions.
Materials: TED talk video.
Student Participation: Each student listened to the video and then participated in the resulting discussion.
Feedback Provided: Feedback was mainly in asking students to be more clear with their meaning or to provide examples.
Lesson(s) on teaching you learned: This was my first time visiting a group 4 class and it was a great way for me to become familiar with the speaking level of these students. I liked how the materials used were extremely current. The TED talk was only three days old. I thought that this was a great way to encourage students to listen and focus on the information provided. I also liked how Prof. James altered her facilitation to allow the direction of the conversation to be more student-guided than the earlier groups.
