Topic/Skill: Speaking/Paraphrase + discussion 


Feedback provided to the tutee: We usually start each meeting with a discussion, this time it was about university applications and graduate school here in the US. We discussed this for some time and I offered pronunciation help as well as some new vocabulary. I also helped her with understanding how we paraphrase out summarize things here in the US within academic settings. We did one paraphrase activity involving a business article she provided for me. 


Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: I learned a lot about what it is like for foreigners to apply to university here in the US. I learned that paraphrasing is not always something used a lot in other cultures. It was valuable for me to see what made the most sense to her as we worked on that skill with her article.
